FAMILY STILL REELING FROM MAMPINTSHA’S DEATH
The news of ZamaNguni Gumede’s death comes as the family is still coming to terms with the loss of Mampintsha, whose real name is Mandla Maphumulo, in December last year.
Gumede’s daughter has told Daily Sun of her grief, in the wake of her mother’s sudden death.
“Now that she’s gone, I can see that she wanted to bid farewell to us. She told me she was old and that she was leaving. She asked if everyone was around and I said yes. She gave us her blessing and we spent some time with her. We then left. At about 10h00 I received a call informing me that she is dead,” Gumede said.
All this comes as the family of Babes Wodumo, Mampintsha’s widow, said they didn’t believe ZamaNguni was ill. While The Wololo hitmaker’s sister Nondumiso Simelane defended the singer in an interview with TshisaLIVE on Wednesday 11 January, she has told Zimoja that her family does not believe Zamanguni is sick.
According to Nondumiso, Pinky — who is the late Big Nuz group member’s sister — would have informed the Simelanes if her mother was indeed sick.
“If she was really sick, Pinky would call us and tell the family. Why has no one phoned us?” Nondumiso asked
