Kaizer Chiefs makes a crucial decision on their key goalkeeper .The Kaizer Chiefs’ management team is making crucial roster moves with the looming January transfer window and they are expected to tie down one of their key players to a new longterm deal. That’s in addition to their reported high-profile acquisition of midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe from Amazulu.
There were lots of speculation surrounding the future of goalkeeer Daniel Akpeyi and some even claimed that we was on his way out of Naturena. However, news is that the current number one has been offered a new contract which will see him stay at the club for a foreseeable future.
He used to spend more time on the bench, but things took a turn as he is now Amakhosi’s first choice ahead of Itumeleng Khune and other goalkeepers. One reliable source said that this new deal offered is very mouthwatering and should see Akpeyi remain at Chiefs until he is 35 years old. The former Chippa United goalkeeper came to Chiefs in 2019 and is now also the first choice for Nigeria.
“Everyone is happy with how he has contributed to the club, he has been reliable to the club and they surely do not want to loose someone who is very experienced like he is. Itumeleng Khune is missing for Chiefs now and Akpeyi is much more experienced than Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Peterson, so they need him. I hear they have offered him a sweet contract, sweet in terms of the money involved,” said the source.
