KZN may soon become SA Coronavirus hot-spot The Western Cape and Gauteng are the most hit provinces by COVID-19 and Zweli Mkhize has announced that if things go on as they are KZN may soon join the two and actually become the next SA coronavirus hot-spot.
Of late the confirmed cases
KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) are increasing at an alarming rate and the Health Minister Zweli Mkize has announced that if it continues to record cases like that it will surpass Gauteng in terms of having the top rates of COVID-19 transmission.
The stats are backing Mkhize’s prediction
As they show a rapid spike in cases. Gauteng it still on the lead with the more active cases than KZN, and KZN at the moment has reported 31 744 unresolved positive tests that makes up 19% of the cumulative active cases through out South Africa. It has recorded 416 death in the province.
Even though the first case of COVID-19 in SA cases was reported in KwaZulu-Natal, and it had a steady increase in numbers, the region has not yet experienced the same devastating outbreaks like Western Cape and Gauteng respectively. However Zweli Mkhize is saying this may soon change.

The province is hit by the covid-19 storm hence it wise to prepare for it before it comes make sure that all hospital’s in the province are well prepared to cater for the surge of patience due to covid-19.
The Minister said according to the stats and trends Gauteng has the highest number of infection. KZN may soon be on top though and we’ll need to talk to them so they don’t get caught up with the numbers.”
He went on to say they will talk with KZN pertaining the issue of having enough beds and oxygen for patients. The turnaround period must as well be reduced. Our clinicians are on top of their game and they are well experienced.
