Madagascar reports first COVID-19 death

Today Madagascar has confirmed it’s first death of a patient suffering from novel coronavirus for nearly two months now after it was first detected in the country, official statistics showed.

The Indian ocean island which has reported 304 cases has topped the headlines over a traditional herbal concoction that President Andry Rajoelina claims can treat people infected with the virus.

Different African countries have ordered or shown interest in the claimed remedy, which is known as Covid-Organics

The tonic drink is taken from artemisia a plant which was proven to cure malaria and other indigenous herbs.

But the World Health Organization has cautioned against “using a product that has not been taken through tests to see if it actually works”.
