Its been years since Brenda died and by know for a legend such as Brenda there should already be a documentary. However controversy around the Brenda Fassie Documentary has been building since 2018 when a UK studio expressed interest in the story of this Legendary singer. The movie was plagued by negativity because Sello Chicco Twala, Brenda’s producer for many years, and Brenda’s son Bongani fell out.

Chicco noted tha he and Brenda’s son Bongani were working on the documentary together before Bongani jumped ship and wanted to work with the UK company. After that Chicco refused to releae her music and as we all know, Brenda is her music and Vice Versa, and the movie took a dive just like that.

It seems that has been resolved as Netflix announced that we should brace ourselves for a Brenda Fassie documentary this year. However in response to the announcement Twitter has called on people to boycott the documentary as it will be done in conjunction with Chicco Twala.

Entertainment Blogger Phil Mphela shared the details of the documentary being planned on his Twitter page. People on twitter noted that Chicco stands to make a lot of money than Bongani who might get change from the whole thing if not nothing.
