Riky Rick opens up about how his father’s death affected him. Death is something that you can never get used to and it always leaves unbearable pain. When visited by death people handle it differently some cry their pain out, some just numb the pain away while others retreat into depression.

Riky Rick shared how the death of his father affected him. While speaking about his pain Riky Rick said no one should ever live without a parent. After his father passed away Riky Riky stopped conducting live performances as he was now suffering from depression as a result of his father’s death.

While speaking on his podcast series Lab live he shared how he ended suffering from depression after his father passed away.

“I lost my father at a time when I needed the help. I lost him at a time when I needed that voice. A lot of people don’t understand that you can never replace the voice of a father. It wasn’t like he just died, it was like 18 years, living with your dad for a year, and then going back to your mom. I love being with my mom but living with him for a year … A child is never meant to live without his parents.”

He said he always saw himself as a good kid and would get the “attention” and life advice he wanted from his father after completing his studies however he never got the chance to bond with his father after he finished school.
“When he passed away, I was so angry, so upset. I was so upset, like ‘why my life? Why does my life have to turn to s**t when all the kids that I went to school with had both parents coming to see them at football games, coming to watch them at basketball games, bringing them picnic sacks? I didn’t get that and I didn’t get to see you after’. I was so angry, so angry, super angry.”

Ricky said he vented out his anger and frustration through music. He ended up taking out his anger on others in the industry.

“My depression took form in being angry at the guys who were doing it,” he explained, adding how important it is sometimes to get validation and encouragement from others in the game.

Riky shared a clip of himself speaking on the podcast about his father’s death. He said loosing a loved one can make you become lost. Watch his clip below.
