Swallows FC new coach has broken his silence. With Brandon Truter already having joined this season’s long list of fired coaches in the Premier Soccer League, his replacement has since spoken.
Truter’s sacking was confirmed on Sunday after Swallows FC’s poor 3:1 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs and it marked the 12th coaching change this season in the PSL. His back room staff was also relieved of their respective duties by Chairman David Mogashoa.
The nomadic Dylan Kerr has since been appointed as the new Swallows FC Coach and he wasted no time breaking his silence once he touched base in Joburg.
“It’s a sleeping giant and it is ready to be awakened. This club were top of the pile in the 80s and can get back there again. I look foward to working with the players as we have got some tough fixtures ahead of us,” Kerr said in a statement.
Kerr’s appointment was confirmed late Tuesday night and it seems he’s ready to take the Dube Birds to levels they once soured. Wedson Nyirenda, the former Baroka FC Coach was also in contention but the Dube Birds finally settled for Kerr.
After guiding Marumo Gallants to the Nedbank Cup trophy in May, Kerr didn’t agree to the terms tabled for a new contract and he had been unemployed ever since.
The former Black Leopards mentor took his time before beating stiff competition to accept his now new-role at Swallows and his agency confirmed the news.
“Really pleasing for Dylan he is joining an historical club, rich in history, initially all focus is getting the club up the table and getting them back to where they belong,” a spokesperson from the Siyavuma Sports Group said while confirming the deal.
