Qumbu police have launched an investigation following a livestock robbery that occurred on Saturday, March 29, 2025. The crime took place at approximately 9:00 PM in Lower Tyirha locality, where stock thieves raided a homestead, stealing nearly 200 sheep and injuring a woman in the process.
Woman Injured During Livestock Theft
During the robbery, a 33-year-old woman was shot in the thigh when the suspects fired shots through a house window. She was rushed to a nearby clinic before being transferred to a hospital for further treatment. The thieves managed to escape with a large number of sheep, and an initial search by the police that night yielded only one recovered animal.
Massive Sheep Recovery Effort
The following day, March 30, 2025, at around noon, authorities received a tip-off about sheep being spotted near a river in Bhelekence locality. Police, accompanied by local residents, responded to the scene and discovered 145 sheep alive and 24 already dead. The stolen animals were hidden in a steep river valley, suggesting that the thieves may have abandoned them due to the challenging terrain.
Ongoing Investigation
As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the crime. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
