Rising South African singer Mawelele is preparing to share his side of the story following his highly publicized break-up with fellow musician Naledi Aphiwe. In an emotional move, the artist announced the release of a new four-track EP titled Answers, set to drop on June 4, 2025.
The project appears to be deeply personal, with each track reflecting the emotional turmoil following the couple’s split. According to Mawelele, the EP is a way to connect with fans who have been left puzzled after Naledi revealed their break-up on TikTok—an announcement that caught many off guard.
“To all the people who believe in me, to my fans, my family, and friends who want to hear my side and see my perspective… I’m dropping an EP titled Answers on June 4,” Mawelele posted on Instagram.
The four songs—Goodbye My Love, Heartbreak Story, Lose You, and Move On/Last Time—offer a narrative journey through heartbreak and healing. The EP’s cover features what seems to be a heartfelt letter to Naledi, with Mawelele writing:
“I hope you are doing well. It’s clear our paths have diverged, and we’ve both found new directions. Still, there are moments when a memory surfaces, and I’m reminded of the beauty in what we shared.”
While many see the EP as a genuine emotional release, others have speculated that the project could be a publicity move. Some fans question the timing of the announcement, given the media attention surrounding the couple’s split. Nevertheless, anticipation for the music remains high.
Online reactions have been mixed but mostly supportive. One fan, Donald, shared words of encouragement, saying:
“You’re the change this industry needed. You’re so important to the future of young singers. I love and appreciate you, my boy.”
Others, like Nhlapho Bongiwe, hinted at skepticism:
“This is staged so well… Anyways, I’m happy to hear new music. You are talented, unmatched. Keep growing in your career.”
Meanwhile, social media users like Yandiswa Pearl and Yandi Shandis urged the couple to reconcile, believing there may still be love between them.
Mawelele and Naledi’s relationship had become a fan favorite, especially after collaborative performances and appearances, including a memorable show during the Blaq Diamond tour in Pretoria.
Naledi, on her end, has continued to draw attention. In a recent incident, she responded playfully—but controversially—to a Zimbabwean fan asking her to perform in the country, joking that Zimbabweans should wait for her “back home.”
Whether Answers becomes a commercial success or not, it’s clear that Mawelele is ready to move forward—both personally and professionally—while offering fans a raw, emotional insight into his heartbreak.
As June 4 approaches, all eyes are on Mawelele to see if his music can truly offer the answers so many have been waiting for.
