Cape Town, South Africa — The police in Cape Town are appealing to the public for help in locating 30-year-old Londiwe Pretty Mnyandu, a nurse who has mysteriously disappeared after visiting a male acquaintance in Samora Machel. Concerned family members, friends, and the local community have joined forces with authorities in the search for her.

Londiwe, who works at a medical facility in Bellville, was last seen on Saturday, 31 May. According to police reports, she left her workplace accompanied by a colleague, reportedly heading to visit a man she knew in the Samora Machel area. Since that day, no one has heard from her, and she has not returned to work.

Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, spokesperson for the Western Cape police, confirmed that Londiwe was last seen wearing her nurse’s uniform at the time of her disappearance. The police have officially launched a missing person investigation and are urging the public to come forward with any information that might assist in locating her.

“Information reveals that Londiwe left her place of employment on Saturday with a colleague on her way to Samora Machel to visit a male known to her. She has since not yet returned to her place of employment in Bellville. At the time of her disappearance, she was seen wearing a nurse’s uniform,” said Swartbooi.

Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have seen Londiwe or knows of her whereabouts to come forward. Detective Sergeant Busiswa Ngxafane is leading the investigation and can be contacted directly at 079 057 6493. Alternatively, Crime Stop is available at 08600 10111. The police have assured that all information provided will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.

As the search for Londiwe intensifies, the community remains hopeful for her safe return. Friends and colleagues describe her as a dedicated healthcare professional who has always been responsible and kind-hearted. The sudden disappearance has left many in shock, raising concerns about safety in the area.

This case has drawn particular attention as it follows closely on the heels of another tragic disappearance in Bellville. In a separate incident, 52-year-old Chantal Pelser was reported missing in May. Her case came to a heartbreaking end when her body was discovered in a Cape Town guesthouse on Wednesday, 28 May. Chantal had last been seen driving through the Bo-Kaap area heading toward Kloof Nek Road. Her disappearance had sparked a widespread social media search before the devastating discovery.

While investigations into both cases continue, police are determined to uncover the truth and bring those responsible to justice if foul play is involved. The disappearance of Londiwe Mnyandu has once again highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by women in South Africa regarding personal safety and violence.

As the days pass, Londiwe’s family is clinging to hope, appealing to the public for any leads that may help reunite them with their beloved daughter, sister, and colleague.
