A tragic bus accident on the N1 near Trompsburg in the Free State has left at least 11 people dead after a passenger bus overturned while travelling towards Zimbabwe on Thursday night. The devastating crash has plunged several families into mourning and left many others injured.
The accident happened at approximately 9:30 p.m. on 30 July, about 24 kilometres north of Trompsburg in the direction of Edenburg. Emergency services, police officers and traffic officials rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a serious crash involving a bus carrying dozens of passengers.
According to preliminary information, the bus was transporting around 60 passengers and was towing a trailer when the driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn.
