Escaped prisoner Edward Khomotso Madiba has reportedly been apprehended in Brits following an extensive search operation involving police, correctional services officials and game ranger
Madiba was reportedly arrested at approximately 10pm on Wednesday after authorities intensified efforts to locate him following his escape. The operation involved several law enforcement and security teams, who worked together to track down the prisoner after he was believed to have entered an area of veld.

According to information provided to MDNtv, Madiba was spotted by Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) workers near Jericho on Tuesday. His reported sighting prompted authorities to increase the search in the surrounding area. However, he allegedly disappeared into the veld before search teams could apprehend him.
A coordinated operation was subsequently launched, with additional resources brought in to assist with the search. A drone was deployed to help monitor the difficult terrain from above, while the Hartbeespoort K9 Unit was also involved in efforts to trace Madiba.
Borakalalo game rangers reportedly joined the operation, adding their knowledge of the surrounding environment and assisting law enforcement teams as they searched the area.
The search continued until Madiba was eventually located and apprehended in Brits on Wednesday night. His arrest brings an end to a search that had involved multiple agencies and resources.
Following his apprehension, Madiba was reportedly taken into custody and is currently being detained at Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre.
