Celebrity sangoma Gogo Maweni has reignited controversy by demanding that actor SK Khoza fulfill his child maintenance responsibilities, especially now that he is reportedly employed. This demand comes after a photograph surfaced, purportedly showing Khoza’s alleged child. The image has sparked debate due to the child’s lighter complexion, leading some to question whether Khoza is indeed the father and calling for a DNA test to confirm paternity.
Gogo Maweni, whose real name is Lee-Anne Mokopo, has long been vocal about her dissatisfaction with Khoza’s failure to provide financial support for their child. In a recent interview with ZiMoja, Maweni reiterated her call for Khoza to step up now that he is gainfully employed. She expressed frustration that despite his improved financial situation, he has not fulfilled his parental duties.
Maweni, known for her substantial wealth—including multiple properties, vehicles, and successful herbal stores—has emphasized that her financial stability does not negate Khoza’s responsibility to contribute to their child’s upbringing. “I am well-capable of supporting myself and my lifestyle, but that does not mean he should be absolved of his responsibilities,” Maweni stated. “Now that he has a job, it is only right that he contributes.”
In a shift from her previous approach, Maweni has decided to seek legal recourse rather than relying on traditional African medicine (muthi) to resolve the issue. She announced her intention to consult legal professionals to address the matter through the judicial system, underscoring her commitment to ensuring that Khoza meets his parental obligations. “I no longer need to use muthi or stand in line at the maintenance court,” Maweni said. “I can afford my own lawyer, and I will handle this matter legally.”
Previously, Maweni had used muthi in her legal battle with another former partner, former Mamelodi Sundowns soccer player Siyabonga Zulu, after taking him to court for child maintenance. However, in Khoza’s case, she is opting for a legal approach to resolve the dispute.
