Orlando Pirates’ Relebohile Mofokeng to Receive a New Car

Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng is set to receive a brand-new vehicle from the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation in recognition of his recent achievements.

Recognition for Outstanding Performance

Mofokeng, who was named Gauteng Sport Awards Personality of the Year in November 2024, earned the accolade by surpassing strong contenders such as former African 100m record holder Akani Simbine, UFC champion Dricus Du Plessis, two-time Olympic gold medalist Tatjana Schoenmaker, and Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams.

Official Handing Over Ceremony

The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation confirmed that the 20-year-old footballer will officially receive his reward on Tuesday. According to a statement from the department, MEC Matome Chiloane will present Mofokeng with the car at Bidwest McCarthy VW Westgate in Roodepoort, courtesy of sponsors Joma Sport.

A Breakthrough Year for Mofokeng

Mofokeng has had an exceptional 2024 season, playing a key role in Orlando Pirates’ success, which included winning two trophies. His performances also earned him his first call-up to the South African national team, impressing coach Hugo Broos.

So far this season, he has featured in 14 league matches, scoring twice. He was instrumental in Pirates’ MTN8 triumph, even finding the net in the final. With his growing reputation, several top European clubs are reportedly monitoring him for a potential transfer after the 2024/25 season.

Recent Form and Future Prospects

Mofokeng’s performances have been under the spotlight in recent matches. Do you think he has maintained his high standards, or has he struggled in recent games for Pirates?
