Police in Botshabelo are investigating a disturbing case of rape and murder following an incident reported on 23 February 2025. Authorities are currently searching for a 38-year-old suspect who allegedly held two women captive, raped one of them multiple times, and murdered the other.

Incident Details

According to reports, the crime took place over two days at a residence in E Section, Botshabelo. The victims, a 30-year-old woman and her 34-year-old friend, had gone to the suspect’s home on 21 February 2025, at approximately 18:00. The man had invited them over with the promise of providing alcohol. However, the situation quickly turned into a nightmare.

After consuming alcohol, the suspect allegedly refused to let the women leave. When the 34-year-old attempted to escape, the suspect produced a knife and stabbed her. He then allegedly forced the 30-year-old into his bedroom, where he raped her repeatedly over the next two days.

Escape and Discovery of the Crime Scene

The ordeal came to an end in the early hours of 23 February 2025. When the suspect stepped out to empty a bucket, the 30-year-old woman seized the opportunity to escape. She ran to the Botshabelo police station and reported the incident.

Acting swiftly, police officers rushed to the suspect’s residence. Upon arrival, they forced open the burglar door and entered the house. Inside, they found the lifeless body of the 34-year-old woman lying on the floor. She had suffered a fatal stab wound to the right side of her neck. Emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene and officially declared her dead.

Suspect on the Run

The suspect fled the scene before the authorities arrived, prompting a manhunt. Police are actively searching for him and urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.

The police continue to investigate the case as they work to bring the perpetrator to justice.
