Amanda du-Pont’s Claims Against Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye Questioned in Court

TV actress Amanda du-Pont faced intense scrutiny in court for her allegations against her former boyfriend, Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye. The case revolved around accusations of assault that Du-Pont claimed took place approximately 20 years ago.

Alleged Failure to Protect Sister: Du-Pont was criticized for not protecting her younger sister from Maarohanye, despite claiming that he assaulted her while her sister was sharing a bed with them.

Police Report Issues: Du-Pont stated that she did not pursue criminal charges against Maarohanye because a female police officer at the Mondeor police station refused to assist her. However, she did not seek help from other officers or the station commander.

Lack of Medical Evidence: Maarohanye’s lawyer, Adv Ntsako Baloyi, highlighted the absence of medical evidence supporting Du-Pont’s allegations of assault.

Timing and Credibility: Baloyi questioned the timing and credibility of Du-Pont’s accusations, noting they surfaced after Maarohanye’s controversial December 2021 interview on MacG Podcast and Chill.

He pointed out that Du-Pont had previously denied Maarohanye was the perpetrator in an earlier magazine interview.

Witness Testimonies: The defense argued that reliable witness testimonies and sufficient evidence were lacking, making it difficult for the prosecution to prove Maarohanye’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Public and Legal Disclosure: Baloyi noted that Du-Pont had not raised these issues publicly or legally until recently, casting doubt on the authenticity of her claims.

Conclusion:

Adv Ntsako Baloyi stressed that the court should not be used to advance false accusations, particularly given the potential impact on genuinely abused individuals.

Ultimately, due to the lack of sufficient evidence and credible witness testimonies, the state decided to withdraw the case against Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye.
