The Limpopo music industry has once again been shaken by news of a car accident involving a popular Lekompo artist, reigniting serious concerns about road safety, late-night travel, and the demanding schedules musicians endure. The latest incident involves well-known Lekompo rapper Tribby WaDi BhoZza, adding to a troubling pattern of road accidents affecting artists in the province.

Tribby WaDi BhoZza, born Tshepang Mphahlele, was involved in a car accident on the night he was travelling to a confirmed performance in Mpumalanga. According to information released by his management team, the accident occurred at approximately 10pm on the R40 road, a stretch notorious for heavy traffic and frequent accidents, particularly during night-time hours.
The artist was reportedly en route to The Village Pub and Grill in Acornhoek when the incident took place. News of the crash spread rapidly across social media platforms, triggering widespread panic among fans, fellow musicians, and industry stakeholders. Many initially feared the worst, given the recent history of serious accidents involving Limpopo artists.

Fortunately, Tribby WaDi BhoZza’s management later confirmed that no injuries were sustained in the accident. In a statement issued to Buzz Life News, the team reassured the public that the artist and everyone involved were safe. They described the incident as a frightening ordeal that could have had tragic consequences, noting that details surrounding the cause of the accident are still unclear.
This incident comes at a sensitive time for the Limpopo music scene, which is still recovering from several high-profile accidents involving major artists. Just days ago, award-winning singer Makhadzi was involved in a car accident while travelling in Limpopo. She was admitted to hospital for observation, causing national concern, before her team later confirmed that she had been discharged and is recovering at home.
In December last year, another Lekompo artist, KayCherlow, narrowly escaped death following a serious car accident. That incident sent shockwaves through the industry and once again highlighted the risks artists face as they travel long distances for bookings, often late at night and under intense pressure.
Adding to the list of tragedies, Lekompo star Kharishma, born Melita Makoma Ribane, was previously involved in a devastating crash that claimed the life of one of her close friends and left her hospitalised. Despite the trauma, Kharishma has shown remarkable resilience, recently earning two South African Music Awards nominations for her hit song *Chokeslem*—a powerful reminder of strength in the face of adversity.
The industry also continues to grapple with the tragic history surrounding controversial artist Shebeshxt, whose involvement in fatal and subsequent car accidents sparked national outrage and renewed debates around reckless driving, substance abuse, and accountability.
As accidents involving Lekompo artists continue to dominate headlines, calls are growing for urgent intervention. Industry voices are advocating for safer travel arrangements, professional drivers, stricter adherence to road safety laws, and greater awareness of fatigue and alcohol-related risks. With Limpopo’s artists carrying the province’s culture onto national stages, their safety has become a critical issue that can no longer be ignored.
