Brazen Attack on Security Officers

This morning, a group of heavily armed criminals launched a violent attack on security officers transporting cash to an armored vehicle on Todd Street in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal.

Emergency Calls Flood In

At approximately 11:02 AM on Monday, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received multiple distress calls from frantic shoppers in the Central Business District. Reports indicated that a Cash-in-Transit (CIT) heist had just taken place, prompting an urgent response from law enforcement.

Security Officers Overpowered

Upon arrival, Reaction Officers confirmed that two security personnel from IZI Cash were ambushed at gunpoint. The attackers forcefully seized their firearms and a bag of cash as they exited a wholesaler. The officers were also physically assaulted during the robbery.

Heavily Armed Suspects

Eyewitnesses reported that the criminals were well-equipped, wearing bulletproof vests and carrying high-powered rifles and handguns. Two armed individuals were positioned at either end of the street, seemingly acting as lookouts to prevent interference from first responders.

Getaway Vehicle Identified

The assailants used a silver VW Polo or Golf with license plates BP68GP-ZN to escape the scene. Authorities are now working to track down the vehicle and its occupants.

Medical Assistance on the Scene

Paramedics were dispatched to the location to provide medical attention to the injured security officers. Their current condition remains undisclosed as investigations continue.

Law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the suspects involved in this daring daylight robbery.
