DJ Fresh, renowned DJ and podcaster, delivered a heart-wrenching and emotional tribute to his ex-wife, Thabiso Sikwane, at her memorial service on Friday. While speaking about the deep bond they shared, DJ Fresh publicly apologized to Thabiso, highlighting the complexities of their relationship and the love that continued between them, even after their divorce.

The couple, who were married for 20 years, announced their separation in February 2022. Despite the end of their marriage, they maintained a close and supportive friendship, often appearing together on DJ Fresh’s podcast, *What a Week*. Their enduring bond was evident, and it was on this platform that DJ Fresh had intended to make a public apology to Thabiso—one that tragically remained undelivered until her memorial service.

During his tribute, DJ Fresh revealed that he had apologized privately to Thabiso and their children but felt compelled to make his remorse known to the public. Fighting back tears, he said, “I’m sorry, my friend.” His words were a powerful expression of his regret and gratitude towards Thabiso, who he described as a personification of love.

Reflecting on their relationship, DJ Fresh acknowledged the mistakes he had made and Thabiso’s unwavering capacity to forgive. “Because this woman personified love, she forgave me more times than I deserved. She would relentlessly not give up on me as a human being. Even when she said, ‘maybe we must just cut our losses,’ she said it with love. Any other person would have probably walked away long ago, but because she was love, she didn’t give up.”

He praised Thabiso for her resilience, kindness, and the love she extended not only to him but also to their children. “One thing I appreciate, especially about these children you blessed us with, is they are exactly like you.” His words underscored the legacy of love Thabiso had imparted to their family, a legacy that continues to shape their lives.

DJ Fresh’s tribute highlighted the pain of losing Thabiso and the unfinished business between them. He revealed that during their last podcast recording, he had planned to offer a public apology for the heartache he had caused her over the years. “The only thing I owe her that was meant to be delivered last week when we recorded the podcast was an apology in public for the heartache I had caused her. That was the point of that podcast—a public apology for any heartbreak, any heartache, any embarrassment, people’s eyes that I caused you.”

Despite his private apologies, DJ Fresh emphasized the importance of making amends in the public eye. “I apologised to you and the children, but it was not complete until it was done in public.” He concluded his heartfelt tribute with a simple but powerful statement: “I’m sorry, my friend.”

DJ Fresh’s apology was a poignant reminder of the enduring bonds that can exist even after relationships end, and the power of forgiveness. Thabiso’s legacy of love and grace lives on, not only in the hearts of her family but also in the memories of those who knew her.
