A devastated father, Londs Londiwe Dlamini, is demanding justice for his twin children after a horrific incident at Homii Flats left one of them dead and the other fighting for her life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The tragedy has sparked public outrage and calls for accountability from the building’s management.
According to Dlamini, the tragic accident occurred when his 8-year-old twins fell through a lift shaft from the fourth floor of the building to the basement. He alleges that the lift doors were faulty and had not been properly secured, creating a deadly hazard for residents. The fall claimed the life of his young son, while his daughter miraculously survived but remains in critical condition.
“The doors were not locked, and because of that negligence, my children fell,” Dlamini said, his voice filled with grief. “My son is gone, and my daughter is still in ICU fighting for her life. I just want justice for my children.”
What has compounded the family’s pain, he says, is the alleged lack of empathy and responsibility shown by the management of Homii Flats. Dlamini claims that no representative from the management team has reached out to him or his wife since the tragedy occurred.
“Not a single person from Homii management came to check on us or offer any form of real support,” he said. “I had to go to the security office myself to ask for the CCTV footage of what happened, but they refused to show it to me.”
In what many have described as an insensitive gesture, the grieving father said the only thing the management offered was a grocery bag and a teddy bear — which he declined, saying it was not what his family needed. “I don’t want handouts. I want accountability. I want justice for my son and my daughter,” he said.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage on social media, with the hashtag **#JusticeForDlaminiTwins** trending as people demand that authorities intervene and ensure that those responsible for the unsafe conditions are held accountable. Many users have also shared messages of support and solidarity with the Dlamini family, calling for an investigation into the building’s safety standards and management practices.
Residents of the building have since raised concerns about ongoing safety issues, alleging that maintenance problems, including faulty lifts, have been ignored for months despite repeated complaints.
Community members are urging local authorities and safety inspectors to take swift action, saying the tragedy could have been prevented had proper safety checks been carried out. Legal experts have also weighed in, suggesting that the family may have grounds for a negligence lawsuit against the property owners and management company.
For Dlamini and his wife, however, the focus remains on their daughter’s recovery and seeking justice for their late son. “My family will never be the same again,” he said. “All I want is for those responsible to be held accountable so that no other family has to go through what we are going through.”
