Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane has been involved in a car accident and suffered a broken jaw.
- The 29-year-old is expected to be out of action for at least three months.
This news comes as the team is currently in Turkey for their pre-season training, but Mdantsane and three other players are noticeably absent due to injuries.
According to Kaizer Chiefs physiotherapist David Milner, Mdantsane had surgery and is expected to make a full recovery in three months’ time. However, this means that he will miss a significant portion of the upcoming season.
In addition to Mdantsane, three other players are also out due to injuries. Tebogo Potsane is recovering from groin surgery and is expected to be back in training in two weeks.
Dillan Solomons had shoulder surgery and will be out for another nine weeks, although he has started running and rehabilitation.
George Matlou is expected back in October following his knee surgery and is currently doing light running and gym work.
Mdantsane’s injury is a significant blow to the team, as he was hardly used last season, making just 13 league appearances for the Soweto giants.
His absence will likely be felt, and the team will need to rely on other players to step up in his place.
