Amapiano sensation LeeMcKrazy, real name Linda Mnisi, is grateful to be alive after surviving a violent attempted hijacking in Johannesburg. The rising star, known for his hit “Kokotela,” was attacked outside a popular club and rushed to hospital after being pepper-sprayed during the ordeal.

The incident occurred shortly after LeeMcKrazy’s performance at the Cosmopolitan nightclub in Maboneng, a trendy inner-city area. According to a close friend who spoke to Buzz Life News, LeeMcKrazy had just wrapped up a successful set and was seated in a car with three others when the incident unfolded.

The group had parked the vehicle outside the club when one of the occupants returned inside to retrieve a forgotten item. That’s when a group of five assailants reportedly approached the car and launched their attack. The attackers allegedly used pepper spray or a similar substance on the occupants, causing chaos and confusion inside the vehicle.

“One of the guys opened the car door, and then about five men came at us,” the friend recalled. “They poured some kind of acid and pepper-sprayed LeeMcKrazy. It was terrifying.”

Fortunately, the attackers recognized the young artist mid-attack and fled the scene without stealing the vehicle or harming the group further. “Once they realized it was him, they ran off,” the friend added.

LeeMcKrazy was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors treated him for eye injuries. Medical professionals warned that if he had delayed seeking treatment, the injuries could have caused long-term damage to his vision.

“He got the help he needed just in time. The doctors said that if he had waited any longer, things could have gotten much worse,” said a source close to the musician.

Though shaken by the incident, LeeMcKrazy has since returned to work. He is currently in Poland with fellow artist Scotts Maphuma, where the duo is performing at the Monta Beach Volleyball event. He updated fans via Instagram, reassuring them of his recovery.

“I’m working, all is good,” LeeMcKrazy said in a post. He also took some time off after the attack to rest and fully recover before resuming his hectic schedule.

LeeMcKrazy, who is signed under Gipa Entertainment, has been enjoying a stellar rise in the Amapiano scene. Despite the traumatic experience, the star is determined to keep pushing forward.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time he’s been targeted. Not long ago, the headlights of his Volkswagen were stolen. However, he remains optimistic and focused on his career.

The singer recently teamed up with legendary producer Oskido for a Pepsi campaign and is also working on new music with Scotts Maphuma. The pair, dubbed the “new kids on the block,” are among the most booked Amapiano acts in South Africa.

No criminal case has been opened in relation to the attempted hijacking, but LeeMcKrazy’s team is prioritizing his safety moving forward. Fans continue to show support on social media, celebrating his resilience and wishing him well.
