Tragedy has hit the Masetla family in Limpopo as they grieve the sudden and tragic loss of respected music producer Caven “DJ Poizen” Masetla. The family has taken to the public, appealing for support to afford a dignified funeral following his fatal car crash along the N1 near Polokwane.
Robert Masetla, speaking on behalf of the family, revealed how DJ Poizen’s passing has left them devastated both emotionally and financially. As the family’s primary provider, he supported numerous relatives—brother, cousins, and aunts—many of whom are unemployed. Robert explained that the family currently operates “on a zero budget,” and they are appealing for assistance—be it monetary pledges or in-kind support like catering—to ensure a farewell worthy of his legacy.
The estimated costs associated with the funeral exceed R150,000. To cover these expenses, the family is reaching out to communities and fans across Mzansi. Any form of assistance is welcomed, and they hope the public’s generosity can help ease this difficult burden.
Funeral arrangements are already underway. The service is scheduled for Saturday, 13 September, to be held at Tickeyline Village, located in Tzaneen within Limpopo’s Mopani district
DJ Poizen tragically lost his life in a crash that claimed the lives of five individuals, who were tragically “burnt beyond recognition.” Among the survivors was fellow artist DJ Chymamusique, who sustained serious injuries in the incident. DJ Poizen had recently collaborated with the popular amapiano innovator Kabza De Small on a single expected for release in November, making his passing all the more poignant and tragic
