Limpopo-born music artist Shebeshxt (real name Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, age 30) was arrested on Tuesday, 12 November 2025, following allegations that he committed attempted murder in a road-rage incident.
The arrest took place around 9:30 am in the affluent Bendor suburb of Polokwane, Limpopo, as part of an intelligence-driven operation by the provincial investigation unit and tracking team, acting on a warrant related to a case registered at Westenburg SAPS.

According to a statement from provincial police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the case stems from events on Sunday, 19 October 2025, along Witklip Street in Ladanna outside Polokwane. Chauke is accused of engaging in a confrontation with another motorist and firing several shots at a vehicle, injuring a 34-year-old man who was rushed to hospital with serious wounds.
The charges: two counts of attempted murder. The provincial commissioner of police, Lieutenant‑General Thembi Hadebe, applauded the investigative team’s swift action, emphasising that “no one is above the law, regardless of their social standing”.

Shebeshxt, known for his hits in the lekompo genre such as *Ambulance*, has a history of legal troubles. In 2023, he was arrested in Limpopo for assault, attempted murder and malicious damage to property, after allegedly firing shots at a family home. The firearm-related charges in that case were later dropped. He has also been spotted brandishing a gun in public and aggressively confronting fans at his events.

He is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrates Court on Thursday, 13 November 2025.
This incident underscores concerns over violent conduct linked to people in the entertainment industry. The alleged shooting in a public road-rage confrontation has left many questioning the escalation and the role of firearms in such disputes. The prompt arrest may signal the authorities’ growing intolerance for celebrity status being used as a shield from prosecution.
For Limpopo’s music community, the case raises difficult reflections about accountability and the public image of artists. While Shebeshxt’s musical contributions and popularity in the lekompo scene are undeniable, this latest arrest may overshadow his artistic output and significantly impact his career.
As the legal process unfolds, the judiciary will determine whether the evidence supports the attempted murder charges. For now, the incident places a spotlight on the intersection of fame, conflict and law enforcement in South Africa, with the broader public watching closely.
