South African music sensation Makhadzi, born Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, has shocked fans and the nation with harrowing revelations of alleged gender-based violence (GBV) at the hands of her boyfriend. The award-winning artist took to Facebook with a series of emotional posts and a video, detailing physical abuse she claims to have endured from her unnamed ex-partner.
The “Ghanama” hitmaker, known for keeping her private life under wraps since her public split from Master KG, broke her silence in a powerful video shared on Wednesday, 25 June 2025. In it, Makhadzi shows a visible scar on her forehead, claiming it was inflicted during one of the beatings.
“Can you see this? I was beaten like a dog. When I asked him why, he said it’s because he wanted to make me uglier,” she said tearfully. “People must know the truth. There’s someone I loved, and he also loved me, but he beat me like a dog.”
In addition to the video, Makhadzi uploaded several photos displaying bruises on her body, offering more visual evidence to support her allegations. Her posts instantly went viral, drawing a wave of public attention and concern.
On Thursday, 26 June, the singer followed up with another disturbing revelation: her life is allegedly in danger. According to Makhadzi, her ex-boyfriend threatened to kill her if she released her upcoming album, One Woman Standing. She explained that the album contains songs that expose the abuse and reveal secrets that some individuals may not want made public.
“I was beaten like a chicken on Christmas Day,” she wrote. “I will tell my story. Just know that my album is coming, and it might be my last because they’ll kill me the moment I expose them. This album holds many secrets. I’m digging my own grave.”
Shortly after, the singer deleted the posts, explaining that she feared Facebook would block her account. However, she insisted the details she shared were true.
Despite the emotional depth of her posts, some social media users have expressed skepticism, suggesting Makhadzi could be using controversy to promote her upcoming album. The singer has dismissed such claims and reiterated that her intention is to speak her truth and raise awareness about GBV.
As of now, Makhadzi has not disclosed the name of the alleged abuser. Over the years, she has been romantically linked to several men, including her most public relationship with Master KG. In early 2024, she was reportedly engaged to businessman Lawrence Mulaudzi, who allegedly proposed in December 2023 and sent a delegation to her family.
The situation remains tense, with fans expressing both support and concern for the beloved artist. Many are urging Makhadzi to take legal action and seek protection, while others await more developments and clarity regarding the allegations.
Regardless of public opinion, Makhadzi’s bold decision to share her experience has reignited national conversations around gender-based violence — an issue that continues to plague South African society.
