A 26-year-old man is scheduled to appear in the Temba Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 25 August 2025, facing charges of murder and attempted murder following a horrifying double stabbing incident in Maubane village.
The Incident
In the early hours of Thursday, 21 August 2025, the suspect allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend, 20-year-old Kgaugelo Marota, who worked as an exotic dancer. Her body was discovered at a local tavern in Maubane Village, where she succumbed to multiple stab wounds. Emergency medical responders declared her dead at the scene.
After allegedly committing the first attack, the suspect returned home and stabbed his current girlfriend, also 20 years old. She survived and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is now receiving medical care for her injuries.
Social Media Confession and Arrest
Shockingly, the suspect took to social media, posting videos in which he alluded to his motivations, stating that “people won’t understand why he did what he did.” The postings intensified the urgency of the manhunt that ensued, as he vanished from the scene shortly after the violent incidents.
