A home invasion at the Mseleku residence in Umzumbe has taken a dark turn, with the police now investigating the incident as a murder case. Reality TV personality Mpumelelo “Sbindi” Mseleku is alleged to have shot and killed an intruder during the ordeal.
The frightening incident occurred on the South Coast, at the family home of the Mselekus. According to reports, an armed man broke into the property while a staff member was working, demanding to speak with one of Musa Mseleku’s sons. Alarmed by the situation, the staff member activated the home’s security alarm. This led to a confrontation between the intruder and Mpumelelo, during which the intruder was allegedly shot four times.
Following the event, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, spokesperson for the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) police, confirmed that an initial case of attempted house robbery was opened. However, that case has since been closed, and a new case of murder has been registered as the investigation continues.
“Southport police opened a case of attempted house robbery and an inquest which later closed, and a case of murder was registered for investigations,” Colonel Netshiunda confirmed to Daily Sun.
The Mselekus are one of South Africa’s most well-known reality TV families, famed for their hit shows Uthando Nes’thembu and Izingane Zes’thembu.
