Controversial South African businesswoman Norma Mngoma has set social media abuzz following her bombshell revelations about her ex-husband, former cabinet minister Malusi Gigaba, in Showmax’s explosive talk show Untied. The much-anticipated interview aired on Tuesday, 15 July 2025, despite Gigaba’s legal attempts to prevent it from being broadcast.
In the episode, Mngoma pulled no punches as she likened Gigaba to American rapper and music mogul P. Diddy — not for his music or style, but for his peculiar habit of travelling with baby oil. According to Mngoma, Gigaba rarely left home without packing oils, hinting at his alleged sexual escapades while away from home.
“Whenever you leave, you pack oils. You’re like Puff Daddy [P. Diddy] now. Why would you pack like that? It means whenever you leave home, you are prepared for those things,” she said during the interview. Her comments have sparked heated debates and divided opinions across social media.
The couple was married from 2014 until their public and acrimonious divorce in 2020. During their marriage, Gigaba served in various ministerial roles, including Public Enterprises and Home Affairs. Their union made headlines numerous times due to leaked explicit content and allegations of infidelity, which Mngoma addressed candidly in the interview. She claimed her ex-husband had a fascination with pornography and maintained relationships with multiple mistresses throughout their marriage.
Gigaba’s legal team had reportedly attempted to stop the airing of the interview, but the move seemingly backfired. Instead, the effort to gag the broadcast only generated more publicity for the episode, prompting many viewers to tune in.
South Africans were quick to react online, with some defending Mngoma’s right to speak her truth, while others questioned her motives. One user wrote, “He should’ve known better: trying to gag your ex just guarantees everyone will watch. Free PR for Showmax, courtesy of Gigaba’s panic.” Another added, “Taking it to court has hyped it. He should have ignored and let it blow over.”

Critics of Mngoma argued that such public disclosures do more harm than good, particularly when children are involved. “Most women are unable to adhere to a clean break, not caring about the effects of their actions on their children,” one commenter said. Others, however, expressed curiosity and praised her courage, with one user jokingly stating, “Malusi ‘Porn Star’ Gigabyte just indirectly confirmed everything Nomachule is saying is true.”
Mngoma’s interview is part of Untied, Showmax’s original talk show that features women public figures sharing personal stories of painful divorces and relationship breakdowns. Reality TV star Nonku Williams also appeared in a previous episode.
As reactions continue to pour in, Mngoma’s revelations have reignited conversations around privacy, power dynamics in relationships, and the consequences of airing personal grievances in public forums. Regardless of opinion, one thing is clear: Untied has become must-watch TV in South Africa.
