Gauteng police have confirmed the arrest of a second suspect in connection with the murder of popular DJ and music producer Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock, a case that has shocked the entertainment industry and the broader community.
Brigadier Brenda Muridili confirmed that the arrest was made late on Friday night, although she said a full report was still being compiled at the time. According to information available to SABC News, the suspect may be the alleged shooter, but this has not yet been officially confirmed by police, who are still verifying the details of the arrest.

The suspect, a 25-year-old Mozambican national, was apprehended at around 20:00 on 30 January 2026 in the Marathon informal settlement in Primrose. The operation was carried out by the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) in cooperation with Crime Intelligence and the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department. Authorities say the man is expected to appear in court on Monday, 2 February 2026, where he will face charges of murder as well as contravention of the Immigration Act.
This latest arrest marks a significant development in the investigation into the killing of DJ Warras, who was shot and killed in December last year. His death sparked widespread outrage and grief, with fans, fellow artists, and community members calling for swift justice. The DJ, known for his contribution to the local music scene, was laid to rest at a funeral service in Rosebank, where tributes poured in from across the country.
The newly arrested suspect is the second person to be taken into custody in connection with the case. Earlier this week, the first accused, Victor Majola, was denied bail by the Randburg Magistrate’s Court. In her ruling, Magistrate Annalise Tlhapi cited several concerns, including the risk that Majola might evade trial. The court heard that he had provided two conflicting residential addresses, raising doubts about his reliability and ties to the community.
The magistrate also noted that Majola’s alibi regarding his whereabouts on 16 December 2025 — the day DJ Warras was killed — had not been tested. Furthermore, the court found that the state appears to have a strong case against him. Majola was reportedly positively identified during an identity parade, strengthening the prosecution’s position.
In addition, the court heard testimony from a witness who claimed to have seen Majola sitting near the crime scene with the alleged shooter and another man for approximately 45 minutes before the murder took place. The witness also told the court that they overheard Majola pointing out DJ Warras by saying, “There is that man,” shortly before the fatal shooting occurred.
Prosecutors further दावा that details of DJ Warras’s vehicle, including his home address and that of his partner, were found on Majola’s cellphone. Images of the deceased were also allegedly discovered on the device, adding to the evidence the state plans to present.
Police say investigations are continuing and more arrests cannot be ruled out. As the case moves forward, many in the music industry and the public at large are watching closely, hoping that justice will be served for the slain DJ and his grieving family.
