The South African music industry is reeling in shock as controversial rapper Katlego “Shebeshxt” Chauke faces police investigation for culpable homicide. The tragic event unfolded on June 16, 2024, when a devastating car accident resulted in the untimely death of his nine-year-old daughter.

According to Sunday World, the accident occurred on the R37 road between Polokwane and Lebowakgomo, involving Chauke’s vehicle colliding with a stationary truck. The impact was fatal, claiming the life of his young daughter instantly. Chauke and his girlfriend, Kholefelo Chuene, suffered severe injuries, with the rapper reportedly losing his foot and Chuene sustaining head and lip injuries.

The Polokwane police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident, reaching out to the artist’s family to obtain statements related to the crash. Authorities aim to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident and whether any negligence or reckless behavior contributed to the tragic outcome.

As part of their investigation, police intend to conduct a sobriety test by drawing blood from Chauke to ascertain his state at the time of the accident. Sources close to the artist indicate that police may charge him with culpable homicide if evidence of negligence or reckless behavior is found.

The investigation is ongoing, with police collecting evidence and statements from all parties involved, including family members and witnesses. Limpopo police provincial spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba emphasized the importance of following legal guidelines and ensuring a fair investigative process.https://twitter.com/MDNnewss/status/1802242251105468428?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1802242251105468428%7Ctwgr%5Ee9562112cdd67035d0ba6330675083a4d5d0d988%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ftiemnews.co.zw%2Fpolice-probe-shebeshxt%2F

“We understand the sensitivity of this case, and we will ensure that all necessary procedures are followed to establish the facts,” Ledwaba said. “Drawing blood for testing purposes is a standard procedure in investigating such cases, and we will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of justice.”

The accident’s aftermath saw EFF President Julius Malema intervene, transferring Chauke from a public hospital to a private facility due to concerns about the quality of medical attention. Chauke’s family had initially planned to hold the funeral for his daughter last Friday but postponed it to the following weekend, hoping the artist would recover enough to attend.

As the investigation unfolds, the public awaits the outcome of the police probe into the tragic events that led to the loss of a young life and the potential charges against Shebeshxt. The rapper’s fans and the music industry at large are holding their breath, hoping for a speedy recovery for Chauke and justice for the victim and her family.

In the meantime, the Limpopo Arts Movement has offered support to the artist’s family, with plans to assist with the funeral arrangements and provide emotional support during this difficult time.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of responsible behavior on our roads. As the investigation continues, we can only hope that justice will be served, and that this tragic event will serve as a wake-up call to all of us to cherish life and drive responsibly.
