Princelo Manganyi, the 35-year-old accused of brutally raping and murdering 13-year-old Tinyiko Sibanda, has apologized to the victim’s family. However, the family is struggling to accept his apology, given the severity of the crime.

Manganyi faces two counts of rape, one count of murder, and one count of attempted murder, which allegedly took place in Ga-Mokaba village outside Mahwelereng in July last year. The deceased was with a 16-year-old friend who was also allegedly raped and attacked by Manganyi.

_The Family’s Plea for Justice_

The uncle of the surviving victim, Khutso Morowane, has expressed the family’s desire for justice, stating that they want Manganyi to be denied bail as he poses a threat to society. Morowane’s niece, who was badly injured during the ordeal, is still traumatized by the events.

Manganyi’s apology comes as he appears in the Mokerong Magistrate Court for a bail application. The family’s rejection of his apology highlights the need for accountability and justice in this heinous crime.

As the trial continues, the community remains vigilant, seeking justice for Tinyiko and prioritizing the safety of women and children.² Manganyi has also filed charges against two police officers for allegedly assaulting him during his arrest.³
