The hiking community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Nomfundo, a young woman whose warmth and spirit touched many—even those who never met her in person.
Though I never knew Nomfundo personally, our paths crossed through TikTok while preparing for our upcoming hike this Saturday. She was full of life and excitement about joining us. Despite not feeling well, she told one of our team members, “I’m not feeling too well, but I’ll still come. I’ll just sit there and be part of the group.” Those simple words spoke volumes about her strength, her passion for connection, and her genuine desire to belong.
Her enthusiasm was contagious. Even through a screen, you could sense her positivity and her love for life. She looked forward to being outdoors, surrounded by people who shared her energy. None of us could have imagined that we would never get the chance to meet her in person.
