
The South African entertainment industry is in mourning following the untimely passing of beloved actor and comedian Oscar Mgudlwa, famously known as Madluphuthu. His family has since confirmed that the cause of death was due to breathing complications. According to a statement shared with Daily Sun, Mgudlwa’s brother, Sipho Mgudlwa, revealed that Oscar began experiencing respiratory issues on Sunday, 13 July. Despite receiving medical attention at a hospital in Rosettenville, Johannesburg, he sadly succumbed to the illness a few days later.
“We didn’t expect his sudden death,” said Sipho. “He was still full of energy and laughter, even during his last days.” He added that Oscar is survived by four children, three sisters, and a brother.
Oscar Mgudlwa rose to fame through his portrayal of the character Madluphuthu, earning widespread admiration for his comedic timing and unique acting style. His work left an indelible mark on South African comedy and local film.
