SASSA Social Grants Payment Dates for May 202
Older Persons Grant*: This grant is for retired persons and pensioners. It will be paid on May 3, 2024.
The grant amount is R2,180 for those between the ages of 60 and 74, and R2,200 for those above 75 years of age.
Disability Grant*: This grant will be paid out next on May 6, 2024. The grant amount is R2,180.
Children’s Grants*: These grants, which include the Child Support Grant and the Foster Child Grant, will pay out on May 7, 2024. The grant amount for the Child Support Grant is R530, and the Foster Child Grant is R1,180.
SRD Grants*: These grants will pay out later in the month. The grant amount is R370.
SASSA typically initiates grant payments on the second working day of each month. However, grants are not paid on public holidays or weekends.
This means that those getting disability and child support grants will have to wait for the second week of the month for their payments due to the Worker’s Day public holiday on May 1.
Approved grants are paid into bank accounts, and beneficiaries may have to wait two to three days for clearance times. Grants can also be collected in person from national retailers like PnP and Boxer Superstores.
Social grants have increased marginally for this year, from 1 April, 2024. The social grant agency will use their website to announce any further changes.
