TV presenter Xolani Khumalo is officially back on Sizok’thola, the popular anti-drug show on Moja Love, after a dramatic legal battle that had him facing serious criminal charges. His return was announced following the withdrawal of all charges against him by the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Monday, 14 April.
Khumalo had previously faced allegations of murder, robbery, and malicious damage to property linked to a July 2023 incident. During that incident, Khumalo and the Sizok’thola crew were accused of assaulting Robert “Ricks” Varrie, a suspected drug dealer, during a home raid. Varrie later died at Telle Mogoerane Regional Hospital in Vosloorus. The case sparked significant public debate, with some hailing Khumalo as a hero fighting drug abuse, while others raised concerns about his methods.
With the case now dismissed, Khumalo is free to return to television, and Moja Love has welcomed him back with open arms. In a statement released on Tuesday, 15 April, the channel confirmed that Khumalo would resume his role in the upcoming Season 4 of Sizok’thola. The show is known for exposing drug operations across South Africa and working with law enforcement to clean up communities.
Moja Love’s Head of Channel, Livhuwani Dagada, praised Khumalo for his authenticity and ability to connect with audiences. “Xolani has built a powerful bond with viewers. His return will strengthen the channel’s mission to spotlight the devastating impact of drugs on communities,” Dagada said.
Khumalo himself expressed deep relief over the outcome of the case and excitement about returning to his life’s work. In a conversation with the Daily Sun, he said, “I feel like I’m going to work more. The amount of work that we used to do, I’m going to do ten times now because things are getting out of hand.”
He emphasized that the vision of Sizok’thola is rooted in protecting the youth and creating safer environments for future generations. “We need the support of society—women, grannies—everyone must come on board. We can’t do this alone,” he urged.
Interestingly, despite Moja Love initially distancing itself from Khumalo during the investigation, the presenter revealed that he and the channel’s management have reconciled. “We sat down with Moja Love and ironed out our differences. In life, there are no permanent enemies. What matters is being able to talk and work through conflict,” he said.
Khumalo’s return is expected to inject new energy into Sizok’thola, with fans eager to see him back in action. As drug-related issues continue to plague communities across South Africa, his comeback could not have come at a more critical time.
With public support and a renewed partnership with law enforcement, Sizok’thola Season 4 promises to continue the fight against drugs—and Khumalo is ready to lead the charge once again.
