Former music executive Mhlo Gumede has broken his silence regarding growing speculation about his personal life, particularly rumors suggesting his wife, singer Zandie Khumalo-Gumede, is preparing to embrace a polygamous marriage.
Social media has been buzzing with claims that Gumede is planning to take a second wife—Nonjabulo Mdluli, the niece of the late Ukhozi FM presenter and Crown Gospel Awards founder, Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule. Speculation around the alleged relationship began circulating last year and has now resurfaced following a cryptic social media post from Zandie.
In the post, Zandie hinted at being introduced to someone named “Nonjabulo” by her husband. She wrote, “Not me writing a song that says ‘Soze ngama endleleni ye Njabulo yakho’ and a few moments later my husband introduces a lady called ‘Nonjabulo’ to me as my sister wife and his second wife.” The post quickly went viral, prompting fans and followers to interpret it as confirmation of a new chapter in the couple’s marriage.
Despite the growing chatter, both Zandie and the rumored second wife, Nonjabulo, have declined to comment further on the issue.
Mhlo Gumede, however, addressed the rumors in a brief but firm response. “I can’t comment on the Gumede affairs in the media. I’ve never and will not stoop so low to make premature comments on my household,” he said.
He emphasized his desire to maintain privacy and urged the public and media to respect the boundaries of his personal life. “I don’t see why my private life is of news value—so [you] can write your story, but my family affairs are off limits,” he added. He also shifted the focus to Zandie’s professional work, mentioning her upcoming music release as a more appropriate topic of discussion.
The situation has sparked a wide range of reactions online, with some fans expressing support for the couple’s right to live their lives privately, while others remain deeply curious about the possible polygamous arrangement.
This news comes amid a wave of celebrity revelations that have captivated the South African entertainment scene. In a separate development, popular podcaster and former reality TV star Gogo Skhotheni recently stirred controversy when she admitted that what she once believed to be an ancestral calling might have actually been depression. Her statement has triggered a heated debate about spirituality and mental health.
For now, the Gumede household remains tight-lipped, and it appears the public will have to wait for any official confirmation or denial regarding the rumored second marriage. Until then, fans will continue to speculate and analyze social media clues while the couple remains focused on their personal and professional journeys.
