TikTok sensation and dancer Tsekeleke recently held a unique wedding ceremony—one that celebrated self-love rather than a traditional union. The event took place at the Ultimate Sky Event Coordinators venue in north Tshwane, where the 40-year-old from Mabopane publicly vowed to “marry” himself.
Dressed in formal black and white, Tsekeleke processed through a garden setting before sitting down and livestreaming the moment for his fans. The ceremony was officiated by his friend and colleague, Alejandro Dimera. His niece Nanana ululated during the symbolic ring exchange, and friends cheered him on as he wore his own ring, expressing support for his bold act.
Tsekeleke explained that the self-wedding was prompted by a desire to show himself love—especially after having recently spent time behind bars. Last month, he was arrested following an assault case lodged by his niece, Neo Tholo. The charges were later dropped and the family reconciled the matter.
Reflecting on the experience, he said the ordeal changed his outlook on life. “Many people must begin by loving themselves so others can love them,” he remarked. He added that this self-celebration was a stepping stone: next, he plans to marry a woman he called “Black Cat Girl.”
Tsekeleke is known for his edgy dance style and his appearances on reality TV. He previously featured on Lose It or Lose Me on Mzansi Magic.
By turning such a personal act into a public spectacle, Tsekeleke’s self-wedding prompts discussion about self-acceptance, mental health, and post-trauma healing. While unconventional, his gesture was embraced by many as an affirmation that before we seek love from others, we must first honor ourselves.
