Controversial former Ukhozi FM presenter and activist Ngizwe Mchunu has been left devastated after his family home in Mbumbulu, south of Durban, was allegedly set alight by unknown suspects on Sunday.
According to reports, Mchunu was not at home at the time of the incident. Witnesses allegedly claimed that unidentified men arrived at the property looking for him shortly before the house caught fire. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported, although parts of the home and furniture were badly damaged.

The shocking incident has sparked widespread debate on social media, with many people questioning whether the attack could be linked to the recent anti-illegal immigration marches led by Mchunu and other activists in different parts of the country.
Mchunu has become one of the most outspoken public figures calling for stricter action against undocumented immigrants in South Africa. Over the past few weeks, he has participated in several marches in Durban and Johannesburg, where protesters demanded the deportation of undocumented foreign nationals and tighter border control measures.
His close associate and fellow activist, Nkosikhona Phakelumthakathi Ndaba, confirmed the fire incident and said they suspect it may be connected to their activism.

He stated that while no one was harmed, the destruction caused significant damage to the property. Ndaba also revealed that another activist linked to their movement allegedly experienced a similar attack recently when his home was damaged in Umzimkhulu.
According to the activists, these incidents appear to be attempts to intimidate people involved in campaigns against illegal immigration. They claim their demonstrations have been peaceful and insist they are exercising their democratic right to protest.
The incident has intensified discussions around the growing tensions surrounding immigration issues in South Africa. While some citizens support the marches, arguing that undocumented immigration contributes to unemployment and crime, others have accused the movement of encouraging xenophobia and hostility toward foreign nationals.
Videos and images circulating online showed flames engulfing parts of the property as community members gathered nearby. The incident quickly trended across several social media platforms, with supporters and critics expressing mixed reactions.
At the time of publication, authorities had not yet confirmed the motive behind the fire or announced any arrests linked to the incident. Police investigations are expected to continue as officials work to determine whether the blaze was a targeted attack or caused by other circumstances.
Mchunu himself had not publicly commented in detail about the incident by the time reports emerged. However, the incident has once again placed him at the center of national attention due to his controversial political and social views.
The burning of his home has raised concerns about safety, political tensions, and the increasingly heated debate surrounding immigration in South Africa.
