A Zimbabwean family is left shattered following a tragic road incident that reportedly claimed the lives of three family members in a sequence of events on the N1 highway. The family is now struggling not only with the emotional trauma of the loss but also with the financial burden of transporting the deceased back to Zimbabwe for burial.
According to accounts shared by relatives, the tragedy began when the father of the family was allegedly struck and killed by a vehicle while on the N1. It is further reported that the vehicle involved in this first incident was being driven by a police officer. These claims have not yet been independently verified by authorities.

The situation escalated moments later when the couple’s son, who was reportedly present at the scene, witnessed the horrific incident unfold. In distress, he immediately contacted his mother to inform her of what had happened to his father.
The mother then rushed to the scene in an attempt to confirm what had occurred and to be with her husband. However, while trying to cross the busy roadway, she was allegedly struck by another vehicle. Some reports from the family claim that the second vehicle may have been linked to a convoy associated with Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi. These allegations remain unconfirmed, and no official statement has been released linking any government convoy to the incident.
Tragically, the mother was reportedly carrying her infant child on her back at the time of the incident. The baby also lost their life in the same sequence of events, deepening the family’s grief and leaving them with an unimaginable loss.

The surviving family members describe the incident as a devastating chain of events that unfolded within a very short space of time, leaving them in shock and disbelief. The sudden loss of three close relatives has left the family emotionally and financially overwhelmed.
In addition to their grief, the family now faces the difficult challenge of repatriating the bodies of their loved ones to Zimbabwe for burial rites. They say they do not have the financial means to cover transportation and funeral arrangements, which has added further strain during this painful period.
The family is now appealing for assistance from government authorities and, in particular, has called on Minister Aaron Motsoaledi to intervene and help facilitate the repatriation process. They say any support would bring relief as they attempt to lay their loved ones to rest with dignity.
Authorities have not yet released an official report confirming the full details of the incident, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the multiple fatalities are expected to continue.
