New CCTV footage provided by the family of 23-year-old Reegan Collins has raised fresh questions about his alleged involvement in the Reiger Park killings that took place on 7 August 2026.
Collins was arrested by police in connection with the deaths of two police officers, but his family strongly disputes the allegations. According to relatives, the newly provided footage appears to show Collins at home around the time of the killings. They believe he may have been wrongly implicated and claim that he is being framed by a rival gang.
An African News Agency source who reportedly viewed footage linked to the investigation also raised doubts about whether Collins was the person seen carrying out the shooting. According to the source, the alleged shooter appeared to be wearing blue clothing, which reportedly differs from the clothes Collins was wearing at the time.

The claims have added another layer to an already closely watched criminal investigation. However, police have firmly rejected suggestions that the wrong person was arrested and continue to maintain that their investigation has linked Collins to the crime.
Investigators have pointed to significant evidence allegedly connecting Collins to the case. Two R5 rifles believed to have been stolen from the murdered police officers were reportedly recovered at a location linked to him. The discovery has become an important part of the police case against the 23-year-old.
Collins also reportedly had six pending criminal cases when he was arrested, including two murder charges. His existing legal troubles have drawn additional attention to his alleged links to criminal activities in the area.

A video circulated by the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster has also been cited by authorities as part of the investigation. In the footage, a person identified as Collins allegedly admits to being a member of a gang and makes threats against rival groups.
Police are now investigating whether gang-related activity or an alleged gang initiation could have played a role in the Reiger Park killings. The motive remains part of the broader investigation as detectives continue gathering evidence and examining the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Despite the family’s claims, the police position remains that the evidence gathered so far supports Collins’s arrest. The competing versions of events are expected to receive further scrutiny as the matter progresses through the courts.
Collins is expected to appear in court for a bail application on 25 August 2026. The proceedings could provide an opportunity for his legal representatives to challenge the state’s evidence and present the family’s version of events.
Until the case is tested in court, the allegations against Collins remain just that—allegations. The CCTV footage, firearm evidence, video material and other investigative findings are likely to form part of the evidence considered as the legal process unfolds.
The case has attracted attention in Reiger Park, particularly because it involves the alleged killing of police officers and claims of gang-related violence. Authorities are expected to continue investigating all leads while the courts determine the strength of the case against the accused.
