In a recent interview with SABC News, Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, former national spokesperson and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), confirmed his resignation from the party. He stated his intention to leave party politics to focus on academia and contribute to civil society.
Ndlozi revealed that he was suspended from the EFF six weeks prior to the party’s National People’s Assembly in December 2024. The suspension was based on allegations that he was involved in an infiltration strategy by the MK Party and that he was aware of then-deputy president Floyd Shivambu’s plans to depart from the EFF. He described the suspension as unconventional and not in line with the party’s code of conduct.
Addressing rumors, Ndlozi clarified that he has no intention of joining the MK Party and emphasized that his departure from the EFF marks a complete step away from party politics. He expressed a desire to focus on community development, research, and advocacy, stating that party politics do not have a monopoly on contributing to social change.
This interview provides insight into Ndlozi’s decision to resign and his future aspirations beyond the political arena.
