A Mamelodi mother is struggling to come to terms with the devastating loss of her only children after her twin sons were allegedly found murdered at their home in Mamelodi West, D6, near Moretele Park.
Merriam Makgopa, 47, says she left her 14-year-old twin sons, Bonolo and Bohlale, at home on Friday morning, 2 October 2026. According to Makgopa, the boys were in good health when she left for work.
However, when she returned home later that day, she was confronted with a scene she says she never expected to witness.
Makgopa told Daily Sun that she discovered her two sons dead inside the house. She said blood stains were visible in the kitchen, leading her to believe that the boys may have been attacked and stabbed there before their bodies were allegedly moved to a bedroom.
She said the boys’ bodies appeared to have been placed on a bed.
The grieving mother said the tragedy had left her devastated, particularly because Bonolo and Bohlale were her only children.
“I left them in the morning and they were fine. I never imagined that when I came back from work, I would find them like this,” she said, describing the ordeal.

According to Makgopa, three cellphones were also reportedly stolen from the house following the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain unclear, and the motive behind the alleged attack has not been established. The discovery has left the family and residents of the community grappling with questions about what happened inside the home while Makgopa was away.
For a mother who had only two children, the loss of both sons at the same time has been particularly devastating. Bonolo and Bohlale, who were twins, represented Makgopa’s entire immediate family, making their deaths an enormous personal loss.
As the family mourns, questions remain about the events that unfolded at the house and who may be responsible for the alleged killings.
The incident has also raised concerns among community members about safety in the area, as residents await further information about the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Makgopa is now left to mourn the loss of both her sons and face the difficult days ahead without the children she left at home that morning in good health.
The family’s grief is compounded by the unanswered questions surrounding the tragedy and the reported theft of the three cellphones from the house.
