A 23-year-old man accused of killing four people, including two Anti-Gang Unit police officers, has been remanded in custody following his appearance at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court.
The suspect, identified as Regan Collis, appeared before the court on Wednesday in connection with a deadly shooting in Reiger Park, Gauteng, last Friday. The incident claimed the lives of Constables Thapelo Tlomatsana and Siphiwe Sibeko, who were members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Gang Unit. Two civilian women were also killed during the shooting.
Collis is facing four counts of murder, along with charges of attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
His formal bail application has been postponed to **25 August 2026**, when the State is expected to oppose his release.
## Suspect Faces Multiple Serious Charges
According to information presented in the case, Collis was arrested following an intensive multi-disciplinary police operation launched after the Reiger Park shooting.
Police reportedly regard the accused as a known gangster. Investigators have also indicated that he was already out on bail in connection with other serious criminal matters when the latest incident allegedly occurred.
Those previous matters reportedly include murder, attempted murder and the possession of an unlicensed firearm. His existing cases are expected to form part of the State’s arguments when prosecutors oppose bail.

## Two Police Rifles Recovered
A significant development following the arrest was the recovery of two R5 rifles believed to have belonged to the slain police officers.
The firearms were reportedly discovered at the KwaDukathole informal settlement in Germiston during the operation that led to the suspect’s arrest.
The recovery of the rifles is expected to form an important part of the ongoing investigation as detectives work to determine what happened to the weapons after the officers were killed.
Authorities have also suggested that Collis may not have acted alone. Police are continuing to investigate whether other individuals were involved in the attack.
