Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo’s final social media post has attracted widespread attention after he died in a helicopter crash in the Marondera area on 30 September 2026.
Hours before the reported crash, Chivayo shared a lengthy tribute to two lawyers who had played significant roles in his life and career. The post, which focused on gratitude, loyalty and relationships built over many years, has since resurfaced following news of his death.
The message was titled, “Appreciating Relationships Built Over Decades… Saved the Best for Last.” Its wording has prompted many social media users to reflect on the timing of the post and its meaning.
In the message, Chivayo paid tribute to senior lawyer Wilson Tatenda Manase of Manase & Manase Legal Practitioners. He said he had known Manase since 1998, when he was still renting a single room in Hillside and working to establish himself.
Chivayo described Manase as more than a legal adviser, referring to him as a father figure, mentor, brother, adviser and trusted confidant. He credited the lawyer with witnessing his journey from difficult beginnings to becoming a prominent businessman.

As a gesture of appreciation, Chivayo reportedly gifted Manase a brand-new 2026 Lexus GX 550 valued at approximately $220,000. He also included $250,000 in cash, describing the gift as a token of gratitude for their longstanding relationship.
He then paid tribute to Advocate Sylvester Hashiti, another lawyer who had represented him over the years. Chivayo noted that Hashiti had already received three vehicles from him in the past.
He nevertheless added another luxury vehicle to the collection — a 2026 Range Rover Sport Autobiography — together with a promised cash gift of $500,000.
Chivayo also praised Hashiti’s courtroom performances and highlighted the phrase, “I represent the President,” saying it deserved an additional $250,000.
The businessman ended his message by congratulating both lawyers and expressing gratitude for their loyalty and years of service.
Following news of the helicopter crash, the wording of the post quickly attracted attention online. In particular, the phrase “saved the best for last” led some followers to question whether Chivayo had somehow anticipated what would happen later that day.
Others urged caution, pointing out that the phrase could simply have been used as a reference to the final person he intended to honour.
Zimbabwean authorities confirmed that a helicopter carrying six people crashed in the Marondera area at around 17:00. Reports following the incident said there were no known survivors.

The death of Chivayo, alongside the other people aboard the helicopter, has left many people revisiting his final public message and remembering the relationships he highlighted shortly before his death.
At this stage, there is no confirmed evidence that Chivayo knew the crash was going to happen. The circumstances surrounding the accident remain subject to investigation.
