Police in Mitchells Plain are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 45-year-old man following a violent incident at a home in Tafelsig during the early hours of Tuesday, 30 June 2026.
The tragedy has left residents shocked, while authorities continue to investigate exactly what happened. Although social media posts have claimed that the victim was attacked by his own son, police have not confirmed those allegations. Officials have only stated that a 22-year-old male relative has been identified as a suspect as investigations continue.
According to police, officers were called to a property in Lebombo Street at approximately 12:10 a.m. after receiving reports of a stabbing. When they arrived, they discovered the body of the 45-year-old man lying behind the main house with a serious stab wound to the neck. Emergency medical personnel declared him dead at the scene.
Witnesses at the scene pointed investigators to a 22-year-old relative of the deceased. The man reportedly had visible injuries when police found him and was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
